At The Bay Medical Practice, we offer seasonal flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccinations to protect eligible patients. Below, you will find information on who is eligible, how to book, and where you will receive your vaccine.
Flu Vaccination
Who is eligible?
The NHS flu vaccine is free for:
- Adults aged 65 and over
- People with long-term health conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, heart disease)
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 and 3 years old (nasal spray)
- Primary school-aged children (offered through schools)
- Carers and frontline health or social care workers

How do I book?
- Eligible patients will receive a text message with a booking link.
- You can call the practice or visit reception to schedule your appointment.
- Flu vaccines are available at both our Sandown and Shanklin branches – your booking confirmation will confirm the location.
How and where will I receive the vaccine?
- Vaccinations are by appointment only at either our Sandown or Shanklin sites.
- Some eligible patients may be able to receive their flu vaccine at a local pharmacy.
- Housebound patients will be contacted to arrange a home visit.
COVID-19 Vaccination
Who is eligible?
The Spring 2025 COVID-19 Booster is available for:
- Adults aged 75 and over
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- People with weakened immune systems

How do I book?
- Eligible patients will receive a text message (AccuRx link) to book their appointment.
- COVID-19 vaccinations cannot be booked via the NHS App – please use the link in the text message or contact reception.
How and where will I receive the vaccine?
- Vaccinations will be offered at our Sandown and Shanklin branches.
- Your appointment confirmation will tell you where to attend.
- If you are housebound, the practice will contact you to arrange a home visit.
RSV Vaccination
Who is eligible?
The Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine is recommended for:
- Adults aged 75 and over
- People with certain long-term health conditions
- Infants and young children at higher risk

- Eligible patients will be contacted by the practice or invited via NHS letters or text messages.
