Friends and Family Test (FFT)

At The Bay Medical Practice, we are committed to providing high-quality patient care and continuously improving our services. The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is a quick and anonymous way for patients to give feedback about their experience at the practice.

Your feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can make improvements.


What is the Friends and Family Test?

The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is a simple question that asks:

“How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to your friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?”

You will be given a choice of responses, ranging from extremely likely to extremely unlikely, and an opportunity to provide additional comments about your experience.


Who Can Take Part?

All patients, carers, and visitors who have used our services are encouraged to take part. Whether you had a GP appointment, saw a nurse, or used any of our other services, we want to hear your feedback.


How to Complete the Friends and Family Test

You can provide feedback in several ways:

  • Online – Complete the FFT form on our website
  • In the Practice – Fill in a paper feedback form at reception and place it in the feedback box
  • Via SMS – If you have provided your mobile number, you may receive a text message after your appointment inviting you to complete the test
  • Through the NHS App – If you use the NHS App, you may be able to submit feedback through it

The test takes less than a minute to complete, and your responses remain anonymous.


Why Your Feedback Matters

Your feedback helps us:

  • Identify what is working well so we can continue to provide good care
  • Understand areas where we can improve our services
  • Ensure our patients’ voices are heard in shaping future healthcare services

We regularly review all FFT responses and take action where needed to enhance patient care.


What Happens to the Results?

  • Feedback is collected and reviewed by the practice team.
  • We look at trends and themes in patient responses.
  • Where possible, we make improvements based on feedback and share updates with patients.
  • The results are also submitted to NHS England to help monitor patient satisfaction across GP practices.

We may display feedback summaries in the practice and on our website so that patients can see how we are responding to their suggestions.
