In addition to providing patient care, they manage the practice’s operations, strategic development, and clinical governance. They work alongside our salaried GPs, nursing team, and wider healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality services for our patients.
What is a GP Partnership?
GP partnerships are business partnerships where GPs collectively manage and run the practice. This model allows for greater flexibility and decision-making in how care is delivered to meet patient needs.
For a detailed explanation of GP partnerships and how they operate, visit our GP Partnerships Information Page.
Training Practice
The Bay Medical Practice is a designated training practice, supporting the development of future GPs, foundation doctors, and medical students. This means you may be offered an appointment with a GP trainee or medical student, who will always be supervised by an experienced GP.
Our commitment to training helps maintain high standards of care while supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
For more details about our role as a training practice and what this means for your care, please visit our Training Practice Information Page.
GP net earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (average pay) for GPs delivering NHS services to patients at the practice.
The average pay for GPs working at The Bay Medical Practice in the last financial year (2023/24) was £148,909 before tax and National Insurance.
This figure is based on 6 full-time GPs and 12 part-time GPs who worked at the practice for more than six months.
Important Information About GP Earnings
It is important to note:
- The method used to calculate GP earnings does not take into account the number of hours worked by each GP.
- GP earnings include practice expenses such as staff wages, premises costs, and other operational expenses required to run the practice.
- The figure should not be used as a direct comparison with earnings from other professions or other GP practices, as workload, expenses, and contractual obligations vary between practices.
- GPs provide a wide range of complex medical care and are responsible for managing the overall healthcare of thousands of patients, which goes beyond face-to-face consultations.
